Dear all,
I'm hoping you can answer a question I have. How do you get Mantid installed/upgraded in the instrument cabins? I get the impression this is not simple or straight forward.
I'm aware sometimes we get error reports for older versions of Mantid and when we try and encourage using newer versions it's not possible because it can't be updated. Sadly this means any fixes we've done can't be accessed because they will be in a later version. I'm trying to think about how this can be sorted more easily. It's in nobody's interest doing fixes that are not being used.
Thanks

Dear all,
Rob has made contact with Franz Demmel - the epic owner for the SI Analyzer epic. He seems happy with the work so far. He will contact Rob again when he has more details for the IDF/IPF from engineering. We have no time scales for this so the epic will remain on hold for now.
I don't think there is necessarily any need for board members to intervene at present.
I will contact you again if there is any movement.
All the best

Dear all,
The original poll I sent out for the next main MPB meeting was for the week starting the 17th of June, Steve King has let me know there is a summer school going on then; so not the best time.
Since Harwell open week is the week after, I'm going to move them both a week sooner.
Epic Prioritisation Meeting:

MPB Meeting:

I'll have a look at the polls on Friday and send out invites for the best time.
All the best,
Jonathan
Calling all instrument scientists!
I'm looking for volunteers to give tours of their science area or instrument to our Scientific Software Engineers and Software Scientists in Mantid. This is an opportunity for them to gain a greater understanding about what you do which will hopefully help us with developing Mantid for ISIS.
Initially we are looking for volunteers for the 21st and 23rd May. We are hoping to run these again so if these dates don't work for you but you would be interested future sessions then let me know.
If you are free and want to do this there is a short form for you to fill in to express your interest - https://forms.office.com/e/XnkggmCSCT .
Many thanks

Dear Colleagues,
At the Mantid Programme Board yesterday it was noted that the Epic to implement multiple bounce points in the Mantid geometry framework was still lacking an owner. Without an owner the work will not be considered further.
There is also a suggestion that the case of scanning instruments should be a separate Epic. That would then also require a scientific owner.
If you would like to volunteer for one or other (or both!) of these, please contact Sarah Foxley asap. The next MPB Epics Discussion will be in around 6-8 weeks.
Many thanks,
Steve

Thanks Pas,
Given the greater complexity of the reflectometry requirements I think this should be owned by one of the NR team.
We can feed in the needs of SANS as needed.

Dear all,
Thank you for joining this workshop back in May where we discussed various ways to implement complex geometries within mantid and the advantages and limitations of the virtual source idea.
If you are still interested in implementing complex geometries within mantid, we would need to create an EPIC to be in line with the new way of capturing and prioritizing requirements. Each EPIC needs an "owner" from the scientific side. It is basically a ~1-2 page document highlighting the benefits of the work to ISIS in general and also outlining some foreseen solutions so it can be prioritized between all the requests put in to mantid that are not BAU.
If any of the scientists on this list would like to volunteer, please drop me a line.
Best,
P
