From: Summers, Martin (STFC,RAL,SC) <martin.summers(a)stfc.ac.uk> Sent: 22 August 2024 11:19 To: Foxley, Sarah (STFC,RAL,ISIS) <sarah.foxley(a)stfc.ac.uk> Subject: Your STFC CLOUD VM "isis-cloud-linux-11" IP 172.16.103.234 has died and is unrecoverable Hello Sarah, The hardware system that was hosting your virtual machine "isis-cloud-linux-11" on IP address 172.16.103.234, ID add0fe4f-c3e6-441e-90ea-77e9809f147c has failed as the "hypervisor" that your VM was living on has had a catastrophic disk failure, which makes the virtual machine un-recoverable. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ! Your best option is to build a new VM. If you are unable to delete the old VM - let me know and I can clear up the database from this side. We are tracking this issue at our end as Jira call STFCCLOUD-7763 if you wish a reference number. Regards, Martin Summers (STFCCLOUD support)

FW: Planned Power Outage - 22nd August 5PM

Dear all, We will need to work out what impact this is likely to have on our runners. Although none of them are located in R3 the network server is and we've found we've been unable to remotely access the physical runners and the Windows runners. I think the safest option might be to put Jenkins into shutdown at 3:30pm that day (a Thursday) to hopefully allow jobs to finish before the power outage starts. We can then put Jenkins back on the following morning once we're sure it's all working again. It will affect our ORNL colleagues most but it can't be helped.
