We are proud to announce version 6.16.0 of Mantid.
Key features of this release include:
* Upgraded to Python 3.12. See the changes made to Python
here<https://docs.python.org/3/whatsnew/3.12.html>ml>.
* A large number of new features added to the new Instrument Viewer, as detailed in
the Mantid
Workbench<https://docs.mantidproject.org/v6.16.0/release/v6.16.0/mantidw…
release notes.
* The Help documentation now opens in the system's default web browser instead of
an embedded viewer.
* Further improvements for texture analysis including Ikeda Carpenter peak shapes and
support for IMAT. Further details are in the
Diffraction<https://docs.mantidproject.org/nightly/release/v6.15.0/diffr…
release notes.
* For ORNL instruments which use the ADARA system, it is now possible to record and
playback an ADARA-packet stream. See
#40748<https://github.com/mantidproject/mantid/pull/40748> for more details.
These are just some of the many improvements in this release, so please take a look at the
release
notes<https://docs.mantidproject.org/nightly/release/v6.16.0/index.html&…ml>,
which are filled with details of the important changes and improvements in many areas.
Please note: We are aware of an issue affecting the instrument view 3d view with the
Windows stand alone installer. Affected users can install with
Conda/Mamba<https://www.mantidproject.org/installation/index#installing-…
or disable OpenGL in the settings and use the 2d projections. We plan to have a fix for
this soon.
The development team has put a great effort into making all of these improvements within
Mantid, and we would like to thank all of our beta testers for their time and effort
helping us to make this another reliable version of Mantid.
Throughout the Mantid project we put a lot of effort into ensuring Mantid is a robust and
reliable product. Thank you to everyone that has reported any issues to us. Please keep on
reporting any problems you have, or crashes that occur on our discussion
board<https://github.com/mantidproject/mantid/discussions> or

Kind regards
